It seems to me that most people have fixed opinions regarding political candidates and issues. It is an exercise in futility to attempt to sway or persuade most potential voters to change their mind. However, I do think it is possible and worthwhile to change the electoral process itself in order to create a more effective democracy for everyone regardless of their beliefs.
The specific change I support is known as Ranked Choice Voting. This is a politically neutral process and has no bearing or position on specific issues. We will vote on a ballot measure this fall to implement this process for statewide elections but I would like to begin organizing in our local communities. Please join me in starting an advocacy group dedicated to enacting the Ranked Choice Voting process at the local level within Clatsop and Tillamook counties. Oregon state law allows for ballot measures at the county level. For example, Benton County voters passed a RCV measure in 2016, which went into effect in 2020.
Here is a link to a short video which explains the process:

If you are interested in joining me in advocating for Ranked Choice Voting at the local level please email me and I will coordinate the first meeting. Please remember this is not a political issue and there will be no discussion or advocacy for any candidates, beliefs, or causes.
