Belatedly, I have published a new calendar for 2024. I have offered it primarily as a gift of thanks to the many dear friends of the heart who helped me and Joyce to prep and sell our property in Blaine between Feb and Sept 2023. Think: Sort . Clean . Demolish [as in a recently remodeled, perfectly wonderful shed that turned out to be sitting on top of a septic take-out that had not been accessed in over 30 years ! ] . Paint . Organize . Empty [as in The Attic which contained 30 years of “stuffed stuff” ] . Sweep . Repair . Cart . Stack . Prune . Weed . Gravel . Replace . Remove . Wash [as in 21 windows in a house and 3 out-buildings] . Cull . Pack . and … finally … MOVE ! ! !
It was an exhausting year preceded and followed by additional months of community-hunting. In the end, we were guided to our very happy purchase of a Mid-Century-Modern house in SE Salem. Our new life is a huge contrast to our delightful decades in a 100+ year-old homestead on 32 acres! Now, we revel in having so little to manage! And so any restaurants, movies, grocery stores, all close at hand in our walkable neighborhood. We are so grateful to have most of the downsizing behind us now — thanks to so many of you!
I have some 2024 ArtLight Quotation Calendars set aside for those of you who might like to purchase them. The cost is $21 each plus $1.55 shipping for a single calendar sent via 1st class mail. Volume discounts are also available. Contact me for more information.
In January, I discovered I could not NOT create an ArtLight Quotation Calendar for 2024. 2024 is just SUCH a consequential year for our democracy. I felt I must offer encouragement, words to help us Stay the Course as we take every mindful action we can devise to make sure President Biden is re-elected and Donald Trump is blocked from a return to The White House. I hope ArtLight’s new calendar designs will uplift you as you make your own contributions of time, money and effort toward protection of our precious republic. (Our new designs are also becoming available now on our website — www.ArtLightMedia.com — and through our Etsy.com shop: www.etsy.com/shop/ArtLightMedia where you can also purchase the calendars.
ArtLight was born in Gearhart at the end of Susan Walsh’s first long-term experiment with The Hero’s Journey, a two-year process that ended in (I think?) 1996. Many of you were among the earliest fans of ArtLight, from the very beginning. Thank you for supporting this decades-long Project of Joy!
