Wheeler City Council Member
Heidi Stacks Seeks Re-Election.

(Wheeler, Oregon) Wheeler City Council member Heidi Stacks has announced her candidacy for one of the three seats up for election in this November’s race. Stacks, who was appointed to her current position, is running for a 4-year term against three other candidates.
Previous to the appointed position that she has held over the past two years, Stacks served a 4-year term on City Council from which she was appointed Mayor.
With nearly seven years of experience on the council, Heidi has gathered a broad knowledge and understanding of how the Council works and how things get done in Wheeler; Heidi gets things done!
She is one of the founding architects on what has become the blue-print in local communities for emergency preparedness. She has helped establish plans for the city, as well as for individuals. Heidi has worked tirelessly to prepare Wheeler for any emergency by orchestrating the community emergency barrels that are strategically located throughout the city. She helped set up the emergency outpost that contains communication supplies, food items, tents, and more. In the event of an emergency, should Wheeler find itself cut off, the city is well prepared to take care of itself and its citizens.
Heidi chairs the Wheeler Emergency Preparedness Committee, and is a board member of the Emergency Volunteer Corps of Nehalem Bay, a larger organization that includes Wheeler, Nehalem and Manzanita.
She is exceptional at developing relationships with others, either in town or with our neighboring communities. She is a firm believer of working in collaboration with others and she urges participation. She recently brought city business owners together to encourage their greater participation in charting Wheeler’s path forward, and looks forward to doing more work in this arena.
Heidi has lived on the North Oregon Coast for nearly 50 years. She is married to her grade school sweetheart whom she has known for 48 years. She is a mother, grandmother, a retired nurse with 30 years of service, and a former small business owner.
Her life experience has garnered an intrinsic nature to be respectful, reasonable, and responsible. “These three attributes are my promise to the citizens of Wheeler,” says Stacks. “I want to hear from everyone on what they want, and believe we need, for Wheeler. I will take these suggestions to the council and make sure those voices are heard and continually considered. We’re growing and changing as a community, and every citizen deserves a voice in how that happens.”
Ms. Stacks welcomes comments at HeidiForWheeler@gmail.com, and invites you all to the Wheeler Meet the Candidates event at the NCRD Performing Arts auditorium on Monday, October 7th at 5:45 PM.
