What an incredible summer we are having here at Dirty Bird’s and we are getting so many thank you notes from members of the community who just love what we are up to. We love the love, so keep it coming!
There are still lots of opportunities to host events, classes, or whatever your heart desires here on the lot. We love hearing your ideas and can help you make it happen. Like when Kim approached us and said “we should screen the movie Stop Making Sense,” we said “Hell yeah Kim! that movie rocks” and proceeded to make it happen. Or when Stephanie approached us and said “I want to teach a yoga class that also gives back to our community,” we were like “Stephanie, you are an incredible human! Let’s do this girl!” Read more about this opportunity below.
Do you have an idea, but no idea how to make it happen? That’s our specialty! Reach out, and in the meantime here are a few updates about what’s happening on the lot. Join the fun!
COMMUNITY COMPOST CLUB Our Community Compost Club is growing, with over 40 members including the occasional visit from second homeowners and visitors! We are getting some really great notes from people about how much they love our worms. Like this one from Michelle:
”My family has a second home here in Manzanita and we spent as much time as possible here…I’m thrilled to have found the sweet little spot you have going on along with the composting opportunity. We’d love to participate!”
and this one from local resident Terri:
“I’ve been taking food scraps to the bin. I love being able to do this!”
We are feeling the love, and so are the worms! So much so, that we may just build another bin! Thanks to Natasha at Wild Manzanita for donating the pallets, and to local craftsman, Mattias for helping us build these amazing up-cycled worm bins. Want to join the Club? Just email us and we will send you all of the details.
YOGA FOR A CAUSE: SEPTEMBER 25TH 9-10AM Our good buddy Stephanie McBride is generously offering a yoga class that benefits the Nehalem Elementary School Food Program. This is a class for everyone who would like to quiet the mind and connect with the body. Stephanie McBride, LMT and Yoga Instructor will lead us through a gentle yoga class focusing on breathwork, micro movements and lymph movement. Come experience a new way of connecting and calming the body and mind with breathwork, move lymph and enhance range of motion with micro movements. Understand the science of why it’s important tapping into these key functions of the body.
If you would like to make a contribution of $10.00 that will be donated to Nehalem Elementary School for their food program. Sign up by emailing us (queenbee@dirtybirdsgardencenter.com). If you do not want to take the class but just want to donate, you can do so here dirtybirdsgardencenter.com/shop/p/donate-to-the-nehalem-elementary-school-food-program
