FRANKENSTEIN: THE RADIO PLAY is a chilling adaptation of Mary Shelley’s classic novel, brought to life through the power of sound and performance from the golden age of radio.

Join Captain Robert Walton and his crew as they become caught up in the story of Victor Frankenstein, a brilliant scientist who creates a living being out of dead flesh.

But when the creature is rejected by its creator and the world, it sets out on a path of revenge that will bring death and destruction to all who cross it.

This radio play is full of suspense, horror, and thought-provoking themes. It is a must-see for fans of classic literature and vintage radio drama.

Free radon test kits available from State of Oregon

Submitted By: jlb-sam@comcast.net – Click to email about this post
The Oregon Health Authority runs a Radon Awareness Program that offers free test kits to residents whose homes are in ZIP codes with fewer than 20 radon test results. You can search “Oregon free radon test kit” or send an email to radon.program@odhsoha.state.or.us to receive info on how to get a free test kit, while supplies last.

According to the online info, ZIP codes 97130 and 97147 have no data reported. ZIP code 97131 has 8 results reported – but the level is high.

The State announcement says: “Many parts of Oregon remain at risk of high radon – an odorless, tasteless and invisible gas. It is a naturally occurring radioactive gas that comes up from the ground and is drawn into buildings, where it can build up to dangerous levels.

“The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency estimates that radon is responsible for more than 20,000 lung cancer deaths per year in the United States. Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the U.S. after cigarette smoking, and the leading cause of lung cancer among non-smokers. The best time to test is during the heating season, when windows and doors are closed up tight.”

If the State runs out of supplies, test kits can be purchased in many hardware stores.

Local Heroes Prevent Over 136 Pounds of Litter From Contaminating the Nehalem River

Local Heroes Prevent Over 136 Pounds of Litter From Contaminating the Nehalem River
Have you noticed a cleaner downtown Nehalem this past week? THANK YOU to the volunteer heroes who picked up litter on Saturday, Sept 16th, just before our first Fall rainstorm. YOU prevented over 136 pounds of litter from polluting the Nehalem River!
The City of Nehalem partnered with Heart of Cartm to participate in SOLVE Oregon’s Beach & Riverside Cleanup. This September over 1,500 volunteers participated across Oregon (including downtown Nehalem) in total collecting 20,000 pounds of litter and marine debris, removing invasive plant species, and restoring natural habitats at over 70 event sites.
“Two fins up to the volunteers who came out to the Nehalem Riverside Cleanup Event,” said Nehalem Mayor Phil Chic. “Special thanks to Heart of Cartm for partnering with the City. We hope this can be an annual, fun event to celebrate our clean city and spectacular natural environment.”
Cigarette butts were the #1 most prolific litter item found during the Downtown Nehalem & Riverside clean up. Unfortunately, these tiny lightweight filters continue to rank as the most found toxic waste product on beaches and city streets, worldwide!
Few, however, are aware that the cigarette filter is made out of plastic fiber, and that the discarded butts contain chemicals that are hazardous to humans and wildlife. The cigarette filter, designed to keep carcinogens from entering the lungs, concentrates chemicals along its tightly woven, plastic fibers, which are then released into the environment as it sits on the ground, floats in water or is consumed by fish.
City of Nehalem and Heart of Cartm encourage all residents and visitors to help keep the downtown flood zone litter free all year! “Don’t leave anything on the ground, regardless of its perceived ability to degrade,” advises Jessi Just, Heart of Cartm Executive Director. “And, if you see something, pick it up!

RIVERBEND PLAYERS NEEDS A FEW USED CHRISTMAS TREES

Submitted By: admin@riverbendplayers.org – Click to email about this post

Hi!

We need a few used artificial Christmas trees for the upcoming production of A CHRISTMAS STORY.

They don’t have to be in great shape; the slimmer the better, not too tall.

They’ll be used as props during the scene at the Christmas Tree lot.

Any help would be appreciated!

Make your used tree a star on stage this holiday season!

Email us at admin@RiverbendPlayers.org

Thank you!

Someone scratched my truck

Submitted By: markevan91@gmail.com – Click to email about this post
Someone scratched my truck today (Thursday) between 1-5pm just next to the Hoffman Arts Center on Divison.

I’ve attached two images. It looks as if it was keyed, but there are two separate lines and a little extra, so im not sure. Would someone actually do that?

Doesn’t look much like a car collision because it is not dented or smeared with color. Also it would be hard to hit my truck where it was.

Here is the location of where I was parked:
45.7188207, -123.9311919
maps.app.goo.gl/q3f9rpcu6Q3AGiD38

Does anyone have a confession or an idea of what could have happened?

I was parked on the side of the road facing the opposite direction of traffic.

I’m disappointed this happened to my lovely truck and would appreciate any lead or to be united with the culprit.

Thanks,

Mark C
