by Phillip Grecian

Directed by: Julee Ward

The Frankenstein story:

‘Frankenstein: The Radio Play’ is a chilling adaptation of Mary Shelley’s classic novel, brought to life through the power of sound.

Join Captain Robert Walton and his crew as they become caught up in the story of Victor Frankenstein, a brilliant scientist who creates a living being out of dead flesh.

But when the creature is rejected by its creator and the world, it sets out on a path of revenge that will bring death and destruction to all who cross it.

This radio play is full of suspense, horror, and thought-provoking themes. It is a must-see for fans of classic literature and vintage radio drama.

It is sliding scale starting at $11 (and I a happy to work with anyone to make sure it’s affordable to all-just send a note.)

It’s a 2-hour event from 8:30am-10:30am at Dirty Bird’s Garden Center right at the center of Manzanita.

We’ll start with a seated 5-minute meditation to connect with nature. Then we’ll move through a 1-hour all-levels yoga sequence. This will be fairly active and a bit of a workout, but no worries if you’re new to yoga.

After we move, we’ll spend about 40 minutes in very gentle and relaxing, restorative yoga and shapes, with a hand pan/singing bowl sound bath by Jesse Clark, and some optional aromatherapy.

During this time April will guide you through a replenishing visualization and affirmations journey to stir up your wildest, warmest dreams and call them into reality.s

The Devil’s Dye Stories of Indigo with Iris Sullivan Daire at Hoffman Center for the Arts

Submitted By: i.downes-leguin@hoffmanarts.org – Click to email about this post
Join us at Hoffman Center for the Arts this Saturday, July 15, from 7:00-9:00 pm for The Devil’s Dye – Stories of Indigo with local artist and dyer Iris Sullivan Daire!

Plant based Indigo Blue has a long and complicated story with humans. Our obsession with this color has uplifted it to the realm of the sacred and justified some of the most horrific actions in history. In this talk we will learn a bit about the plants at the center of these many stories, about how indigo might be the common thread that can help us face what has come before, and find our way through the complex times we are living in now.

The annual community show at the Hoffman Gallery will use the indigo as the theme in January 2024, so this is a great opportunity to get some inspiration and get those creative juices flowing!

Tickets available for purchase here: hoffmanarts.org/events/lecture-the-devils-dye-stories-of-indigo/

Za at Centerpoint Healing Arts created this beautiful labyrinth in collaboration with Dirty Bird’s. Made with stones, driftwood and a variety of daylilies that bloom at different times throughout the season, this Labyrinth is available to you anytime and as often as you like. Located at Dirty Bird’s (corner of Manzanita and Division). Welcome to the Spiral Labyrinth, a walking meditation to foster renewal and healing. Enjoy a moment to slow down, breathe deeper and connect with Nature. Walking Labyrinths is an ancient contemplative art that humans across world cultures have practiced. Often found near shorelines of fishing villages, folks would walk the labyrinths before going to sea. The 3 R’s of a Labyrinth Walk 1. Release as you spiral inwards. 2. Receive as you pause in the center. 3. Resolve as you spiral back out.
With each step the earth heals us, and with each step we heal the earth.
