Save Three Bucks on Tim Snyders’s book On Tyranny

Submitted By: genedieken@yahoo.com – Click to email about this post
In response to the first Trump presidency, Tim Snyder wrote On Tyranny. The former Yale professor is a world-renowned expert on authoritarian movements. It’s a quick 120ish page book that is full of information about how authoritarianism arises and takes control. It includes pieces about what you personally can do to stand up against it.
Tim Snyder went into exile at the University of Toronto last week. To note this ominous development and to honor Snyder, I have created a fund at Cloud & Leaf Bookstore to provide a discount on purchase of his book. Please take advantage of it while you can! See coupon below.

What does a 1987 song by Sting called They Dance Alone have to do Kristi Noem?

I’ll wait a bit… if you need a hint, here is Sting’s [beautiful] song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MS_bN5ECJTI

And now, the answer: they both deal with “Disappearing” political critics, protestors, and the “unwanted.”

Sting describes protests by women who lost their menfolk to Disappearing by the Augusto Pinochet dictatorship in Chile (1973-90). These women would gather regularly, often holding a picture of the disappeared loved one as they danced alone in the public square.

Disappearing was also common during military rule in Argentina (1976-83) and was preferred by Nazis to get rid of suspected members of the French Resistance under a program called Nacht und Nebel (Night and Fog, 1941-45).

So now about Sec. Noem: She’s Trump’s new Director of Homeland Security and as such is the face of the administration’s program of extrajudicial round up of alleged criminals, gang members, legal and undocumented immigrants, asylum applicants, temporary farm workers, DACA Dreamers, birthright citizens, green card holders, and lastly student protestors/critics. All of these people are subject to imprisonment domestically, deportation, or deportation to horrific prisons in places like El Salvador. Many will never be heard from again and very, very few will be provided judicial review.

On Tuesday, March 25, a Tufts University graduate student was rounded up by half a dozen operatives in black, unmarked clothing and ski masks. Her offense was writing an editorial in the Tufts student newspaper that was critical of Israel. At the time of this writing, eight other similar incidents have occurred.

Tufts is on a list of 60 universities subject to this kind of sanction. Their nominal problem is unresolved anti-semitism issues. But please understand this is just the first and most convenient “problem.” Portland State University is on the list and the Trump administration does not like Portland.

Oregon bill raises property taxes, without your vote

Submitted By: dixiedarrow@icloud.com – Click to email about this post
Oregon Senate Bill 712 raises property taxes.

By Taxpayers Association of Oregon
OregonWatchdog.com
There was a property tax bill hearing this week on Senate Bill 712.  This Senate Bill 712 pushes more property owners to pay the maximum 3% tax increase every year based on maximum assessed value.   This will cost some property owners thousands.
The laws limiting how much value of your property can be taxed (Measure 50) was secured into the State Constitution by voters and require voters to make changes.   Promoters of this Senate Bill 712 property tax increase say that this tax increase is an adjustment on what is taxed, and therefore, in their explanation, does not need to involve voter approval.  Under this, the bill would not require a super-majority 60% vote in the House and Senate (another Constitutional rule for all tax increases).   This bill would then be easier for lawmakers to pass with a simple 51% vote threshold.
Even though this bill is claimed not to be a legal tax increase, it will indeed bring in tens of millions in higher property taxes.

Manzanita Residents Speak. Will The Council Listen?

Submitted By: rkinor@gmail.com – Click to email about this post
The survey allowing registered Manzanita voters to express their preferences on the City’s charging and transfer to the General Fund of indirect cost services for our Water Operating Fund has been completed. Manzanita’s voters approved the City Charter language as to how water revenues are to be used by the City Council. A City that was confident in its policy regarding these transfers to the General Fund should welcome the opportunity to receive the affirming confirmation of its citizens on the amount of these transfers in order to bring closure to this matter.

Voters were given nine options to choose from. Those options started with no indirect costs charged to the Water Operating Fund all the way to affirming support of the Council’s current policy which this Budget year charges approximately $200,000 annually for these administrative services.

I offered no opinion on what I believed the best option was, committed to providing whatever results that I obtained to the Council for their review and clearly stated “this survey is your opportunity to express your preference as to how much of your water fees should be used by the City for indirect cost support services related to the Water Operating Fund.”

126 responses were received with the following breakdown as to the preferred amount of indirect charges respondents wished to see transferred from the Water Operating Fund to the General Fund:
No indirect costs – 57%.
Not more than $25,000 – 20%.
Not more than $50,000 – 9%.
Not more than$75,000 – 2%.
Not more than $100,000 – 2%.
City continues with its present overhead allocation policy – 7%.
No preference noted – 3%.

The City recently announced the results of their Comprehensive Housing Plan survey. This survey was not restricted to registered voters but open to anyone who wanted to respond. The survey results: “We garnered 76 responses which is huge for a city of our size!” Citizens might reasonably expect a similar level of gratitude from the City for those 126 registered voters who took the time to complete this survey and give their feedback on this ongoing controversy but I expect more time will be devoted by some who will find fault with the survey. These individuals will conclude that the respondents were misled or do not understand the issue therefore the results were not a valid expression of community preference. The City is free to conduct their own survey of registered voters on this matter but I sense that they have no interest in giving you that opportunity.

The use of these Water Operating Fund transfers for General Fund expenses unrelated to the operation of the water utility has been taking place for years according to Councilor Campbell. Expect that use of water revenues to be continued in next year’s Budget to include helping pay the annual loan debt on our new City Hall for the next 20 years.

I will ask the Mayor and City Manager to include this letter along with a copy of the survey explanation to the City Budget Committee for their April 29th meeting. Perhaps the citizen Budget Committee members can get better explanations on the use of indirect costs for expenses unrelated to the water utility or encourage the Council to recognize that a substantial number of citizens do not support their present policy and recommend a reduction in these transfers to be more in line with the voter’s input from this survey.

In 2020, Manzanita Councilor Spegman offered his observations about how our City receives citizen input and the fate of those who raise these issues and ask unwelcome questions.

“What they’ve been doing when Randy raises legitimate and detailed concerns about any issue is insidious. They shoot the messenger and call him a malcontent, trying to quiet others who may feel the same but be a little more gun shy than Randy. So we’ve got a small insular group of elites who don’t want any input about how they wield their power, and if you offer it they villainize you so others won’t join in.” The City Manager is equally clear on how to respond to those individuals who point out inconsistent and contradictory public statements by advising the Council that “we must discourage or even ignore them if necessary.”

The use of our water revenues is a Council policy that should be able to answer one question. What is in the public’s best interests with respect to the use of the revenues that are collected to operate our water system?

1. Keep more revenue in the Water Operating Fund for utility operations and maintenance as well as construction of needed infrastructure improvements.

2. Transfer Water Operating Fund revenues to the General Fund under the guise of staff reimbursements for administrative support of water operations.

Thank you to those that took the time to respond to this survey.

Contributor ‘dwieb’ wrote ‘they want us fighting each other’, then did his part by slipping in a subtle comment suggesting my work comes from ‘dodgy sources’. I would like to defend yet another baseless accusation before moving on from this line of posts.

Below is my anti-war film dealing with Iran. My ‘dodgy sources’ include Noam Chomsky, David Barsamian, Vandana Shiva, Trita Parsi, and Stephen Kinzer.

(Israel is pushing HARD for war with Iran. FYI, our bombing of Yemen is ultimately about starting a war with Iran on behalf of Israel. Please spread the link far and wide.)

And here is my multi-award-winning environmental film dealing with the Columbia River, clean water, salmon, salmon tribes, Hanford, etc.

My ‘dodgy sources’ for this piece of work include Yakama elder/scientist Russel Jim, spiritual leader of the Colville tribe Tom Louie, Colville tribal scientist Patty Bailey, Warm Springs chief Don Sampson, Columbia RIverkeeper Exec. Dir. Brent Foster, Oregon author Robin Cody and many, many more:

The ‘dodgy’ characters above are Brett Weinstein and his wife Heather. Bret was a biology prof at Evergreen, a Portland resident, until the woke mobs that pre-dated 2020 violently protested against him. Why? Because they hold ‘no whites on campus day’ at that school and Bret called it racist and refused to leave. Good for him protesting racism! He then testified in front of Congress that wokesters and antifa fascists are about to get real violent across America, and he was right; two years later, 2020, and the burning down of police stations, smashing of statues, throwing objects at cops trying to injure them, crashing meetings of Young Republican groups at campuses across the country, etc. (This behavior from the leftist fascists is a HUGE reason why Trump won in my view, as most Americans don’t want Antifa and BLM running our country.)

Bernie Sanders on Fire – Torches Trump, Billionaires on Senate Floor this Week – Here is his “Fiery” Speech
Posted on March 27, 2025 by Editor

On the floor of the Senate on March 25, 2025, Bernie Sanders torched billionaires, scorched Trump, and burned every shred of political cowardice in his path.

Here is his fiery speech, word for word:

Mr. President,

In the last couple of weeks, I’ve had the opportunity to travel in many parts of our country. And I have been able to talk to folks in Nebraska, in Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan, Nevada, Colorado, and Arizona. And what I am hearing from in all of these states and in fact all over the country is that our nation right now faces enormous crises, unprecedented crises in the modern history of our country.

And how right now at this moment we respond to these crises will not only impact our lives, it will impact the lives of our kids and future generations. And in terms of climate change, the well-being of the entire planet.

And Mr. President, what I have to tell you is that the American people are angry at what is happening here in Washington, DC and they are prepared to stand up and fight back. In my view and what I have heard from many, many people is that they will not accept an oligarchic form of society where a handful of billionaires control our government, where the wealthiest person on Earth, Mr. Musk, is running all over Washington, DC slashing the Social Security Administration so that our elderly people today are finding it extremely difficult to access the benefits that they paid into.

Where Mr. Musk and his friends are slashing the Veterans Administration so that people who put their lives on the line to defend us will not be able to get the health care that they are entitled to or get the benefits that they are owed in a timely manner. Slashing the Department of Education. Slashing USAID.

And why is all of this slashing taking place? It is taking place so that the wealthiest people in this country can receive over $1 trillion dollars in tax breaks.

Now, I don’t care if you are a Democrat, a Republican, or an Independent. There are very few people in this country who think that you slash programs that working families desperately need in order to give tax breaks to billionaires.

Mr. President, I am the former chair of the U.S. Senate Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, and I have had the honor of meeting with veterans in my own state of Vermont—all over Vermont—but all over the country. These are the men and women who put the uniform of this country on and have been prepared to die to defend our nation and American democracy.

And these veterans and Americans all over our nation will not accept an authoritarian form of society with a president who undermines our Constitution every day. Every day there’s something else out there where he’s undermining our Constitution and threatening the very foundations of American democracy. That is not what people fought and died to allow to happen.

Mr. President, I am not a historian, but I do know that the founding fathers of this country were no dummies. They were really smart guys. And in the 1780s, they wrote a Constitution and established a form of government with a separation of powers.

A separation of powers—with an executive branch, the president; a legislative branch, the Congress; and a judicial branch.

These revolutionaries in the 1780s had just fought a war against the imperial rule of the King of England who was an absolute dictator, the most powerful person on Earth. And these revolutionaries here in America forming a new government wanted to make absolutely sure that no one person in this brand new country that they were forming would have unlimited powers.

And that is why we have a separation of powers. That is why we have a judiciary, a Congress, and an executive branch. In other words, way back in the 1780s, they wrote a Constitution to prevent exactly what Donald Trump is trying to do today.

So, let us be clear about what is going on. Donald Trump is attacking our First Amendment and is trying to intimidate the media and those who speak out against him in an absolutely unprecedented way.

Mr. President, he has sued ABC, CBS, Meta, the Des Moines Register. His FCC is now threatening to investigate NPR and PBS. He has called CNN and MSNBC “illegal.”

In other words, the leader—or the so-called leader—of the free world is afraid of freedom. He doesn’t like criticism. Well, guess what? None of us like criticism. But you don’t get elected to the Senate, you don’t get elected to the House, you don’t become a governor, you don’t become a president of the United States unless you are prepared to deal with that criticism.

WE’VE REACHED BBQ’S LIMIT OF WORDS. YOU CAN FIND THIS SPEECH ON 3/26 TILLAMOOK COUNTY PIONEER.

Maybe I’m sticking my nose into something I shouldn’t, and maybe I’ll just get it cut off, but I think we get nowhere good by tossing around accusations and flooding the zone with stuff gathered from dodgy sources. I don’t usually read posts like that (on this I agree with Andy: “nobody is making you read what I write”) because I’m primarily interested in solutions.

I’m also posting to offer some perspective on Social Security. I do not trust the current administration has the average citizen’s interest at heart as they seek to pit us against one another.

Here’s a good analysis from 2022:
www.pgpf.org/article/the-ratio-of-workers-to-social-security-beneficiaries-is-at-a-low-and-projected-to-decline-further/

This article describes the problem, explains why it’s manageable, and ends with reasonable solutions. There is no need to panic and do something risky like privatize or gamble in stocks.

And here’s a recent opinion from a respected conservative source that points to inefficiencies in programs legislatively piggybacked onto Social Security:

They are aimed at developing “citizenship muscle. We will need “muscle” to bring power back to “We the People”, where it belongs. Each sermon functions as a stand-alone sermon. Don’t worry about missing earlier sessions.
This week’s sermon , number 10 of 19, is “A Thanksgiving Recipe” and is 35 minutes long. It will explore 5 topics; remembering requires forgetting, yearning requires yielding, seeing requires unseeing, believing requires skepticism, and persuading requires being persuadable. We can talk about the sermon afterwards, or not.

If you can’t afford to pay for them, you may qualify to be treated without cost.

24 folks who claim to “appreciate the fact that the BBQ is a platform for dialogue and differences of opinion” wrote a very hateful post suggesting that my last post was “outside the bounds of decency and civility.”

Really? Show us where.

And they wrote my post is “vitriolic, hateful and entirely untrue, rooted in centuries-old myth, slander and falsehood.”

Again, show us where.

HOW ABOUT JUST ONE OF YOU 24 BACK UP JUST ONE OF THE THINGS THAT YOU WROTE? SHOW US JUST ONE FALSEHOOD THAT YOU CLAIM I WROTE>

You can’t, because everything I wrote is true and. (Except I was wrong about this: Biden did NOT bomb Yemen 1,000 times, he bombed that tiny, mostly-defenseless Muslim Nation OVER 1,000 times for his Saudi masters and Israel.)

Do you 24 deny Al Qaeda is now in charge of Syria, and that they were installed by Biden’s CIA, and that as soon as they got in power they murdered 7,000 Alawhite Christians? Is that a myth? Is it untrue?

Perhaps you 24 are suggesting that Fetterman’s gifted silver pager is a fake, only silver-plated?

Do you not believe that geoengieering exists? If that’s the case, then maybe you should enroll in this class a U DUB:

atmos.uw.edu/~robwood/Geoengineering/

Do you deny that most folks who died of ‘covid’ were social security recipients?

Where is the vitriol and hate in my post? That’s the part of 24s letter that really pisses me off. I am writing to wake you up, to stop war, to stop genocide in the Middle East, to stop children from having to be masked at stool again, to stop geoengineering until they tell us exactly what they are spraying, etc. etc. Vitriol and hate my ass: SHOW US.

And exactly what is ‘rooted in centuries-old myth, sander and falsehood’???

That Lehman Bros, Rothchilds and Goldman Sachs are Zionists bankers that have immense an undue influence over our banking system? The too-big-too-fail guys that Obama bailed out? Or is Obama’s bailout a myth too?

Lots of strong words from 24 folks who can’t argue one single point. Not one!

This is a space for dialogue, not hysterical and hateful and entirely baseless accusations.

Thank you to the folks at BBQ for believing in free speech! For as we can all see, there are those among us who would love to get rid of free speech. We gotta use our rights or they will be taken away folks! Speak up even if your voice trembles or whatever that bumper-sticker says.

And by the way 24, nobody is making you read what I write. You read what I write because you want to read it.

HATE SPEECH AND SLEEPY JOE

Submitted By: dixiedarrow@icloud.com – Click to email about this post
HATE SPEECH

Here are three rules you should know about “Hate Speech” and the First Amendment:

1. The First Amendment protects all ideas, loving, hateful, or in between.

In the United States, “hate speech” is just a political label, like “un-American speech” or “rude speech.” Some people use the phrase broadly, some more narrowly – but there’s no legal definition, because there is no “hate speech” exception to the First Amendment..

As the Supreme Court held in 1974, “Under the First Amendment there is no such thing as a false idea. However pernicious an opinion may seem, we depend for its correction not on the conscience of judges and juries but on the competition of other ideas.”

Or,
“…the proudest boast of our free speech jurisprudence is that we protect the freedom to express ‘the thought that we hate.’”
Andy’s remarks are not hate speech!

SLEEPY JOE

*BEFORE, it was OK. It was, well, quiet. Sleepy Joe was at the wheel, ???????……so quite and non-disturbing…………….

All was quiet! Really bad things that hurt our government, and its people and our future were going on behind the scenes. We didn’t know. Actually many of us don’t want to know. It is better not to know, it disturbes our sleep. We just want to enjoy the beauty of our surroundings and our friends and family.

EVERYTHING IS TOO LOUD NOW – TRUMP and MUSK are TOO LOUD! WE DON”T WANT TO KNOW

We all know that social security is going to run out of money sometime soon. We are told this by the media. This didn’t start with Trump!

Have you heard anything about how to fix this from your glorious leaders, both Repubs and Dems? NO – because it is too sensitive – they might lose votes. Votes for them are far more important than fixing your social security!

Well Trump and Musk are trying to fix it – they suggest possibly putting it in the stock market. This was actually suggested about 50 years ago when I was in my 30’s. I thought it was a terrible idea at the time. But people who could see into the future knew some changes would have to be made. But no elected person talked about it! Too dangerous for their reelection.

When social security was first started, 4 working people contributed to each social security check. Today it takes 16 working people to contribute to the money I get from my social security check.

Do you want this problem to be fixed or not? YES OR NO?
Here is what to do… I am going to do। it…. I am going to send a letter to my US representatives, Dems all of them, and I am going to ask them what they think would fix the problem of social security. It will be interesting if they will reply. My guess is they will sent a generalized form letter back or nothing at all. All they do now is denigrate Trump and Musk and try to scare you to death….Well, we’ll see……

Social Insecurity

Here is some comedy from George Carlin dealing with the billionaire’s ongoing theft Social Security, from many years ago. It was during Obama’s reign that he performed this piece I think, because THE POLITICIANS ON ALL SIDES WORK FOR THE BILLIONAIRES AND ISRAEL AND NOT THE AMERICAN PEOPLE:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y5K2bozek00

One way the globalist bankers (Rothschilds, Goldman Sachs, Lehman Bros. etc. – all Zionists btw) recently got out of paying social security benefits was via the engineered ’covid’ ‘pandemic’. The avian flu virus (the main ‘covid’ pathogen, there were others) was engineered in a lab(s) to be more infectious but less lethal. (If you are still not buying lab origins, at the very least, I assume/hope most readers have moved well-beyond the CIA’s racist and xenophobic ‘a Chinaman ate a bat at a wet market’ bs as an origin story.) Most of those who died in the US from ‘covid’ were getting social security benefits, which are paid out by our true leaders, the zionist and zionist-aligned bankers. Billons in benefits are not getting paid out anymore for those who who were murdered via ‘covid’, as they are now dead. “Boomer Remover” is the term the youth were using for the engineered virus at the outset of the pandemic:

www.newsweek.com/social-security-205-billion-boost-covid-deaths-doge-2034951

This basically means that the politicians in the US and our own DOD and CDC murdered Americans and psychologically damaged our children on behalf of the globalist anti-American zionist bankers who are no longer on the hook for 205 billion-dollars in SS payouts; now that those elderly folks are dead and not getting SS, the bankers get to keep it! And they used our our own taxes to kill the elderly (and the immune compromised) and engineer the shutdown; they didn’t even have to pay for the murder part! They got us to pay to kill off our own elderly social security recipients! That’s some devious psychopath bankster bs right there.

Maybe we should deport all the politicians, including Big Farma-loving and Palestinian child-killing senators Ron Wyden and Jeff Merkeley? They were happy to kill Oregonians for Big Farma zionist scum; and they are happy to kill Muslim children for Israel.

How abut some real questions at one of the next anti-trump town halls, instead of “Will my favorite hiking trail be closed this summer?”

Ask Wyden and Merkeley how THEY HELPED TO DESTROY MEDICAID AND SOCIAL SECURITY.

Ask them why they support sending guns and money to Israel so the IDF can murder children in Gaza. Ask them why they said NOTHING when Democrats under ‘Biden’ bombed Yemen (women/children/whomever) 1,000 times!!!!!

Then ask them about the DOD’s geoengineering program in Oregon’s skies???

This is how it’s done: this woman in CA found the pilots working on a joint California/DOD SAI (chemtrail) program purposed to increase water supplies in her watershed, AND CONFRONTED THEM.

Bravest and smartest person I have seen in a long time:

x.com/BGatesIsaPyscho/status/1887215408681201949

And finally, a few days ago, someone on this site posted a video of a professor explaining what fascism is. The presentation is fascism/authoritarianism 101, and it’s a good presentation. The hard part for Dems though, seems to be seeing fascism in real life, in real time. Case in point, the post did not find it’s way to this site during the fascism of the last four years (blinded by blue), but was only offered up when Trump got in. Typical for Democrats.

After watching the 15-second video below, would you say Democrat Senator John Fettermen is a fascist? Or are democrats immune to fascism?

Backstory:

In the waning months of the Biden/Blinken/CIA/Netanyahu regime, Israel conducted an operation which saw them trick Hezbollah (Lebanon-based, Palestine/Iran-aligned/Muslims) into replacing 4,000 pagers with explosive pagers.

One day, a few moths ago, the 4,000 pagers were detonated all at once by the IDF/Mossad and exploded all over Lebanon; on buses, in homes, wherever. Many Hezbollah members are doctors, teachers, techies, etc., most are soldiers. Thousands of guts were blown out, testicles blown off (making Zionist-child Ben Shapiro laugh), etc. A little Lebanese girl found daddy’s pager going off, picked it up to give it to him, and her face was blown off. Etc. Etc.

Then, Lebanon had to bring fighters back from Syria to replace the 4,000 that were maimed/killed back home. When that happened, secular Syria was no longer protected, and Israel and the US (Dems) finally completed the Obama-era plan of overthrowing Syria. The Democrats put Al Qaeda (yes, the same folks that supposedly flew planes into the trade towers in NYC) in charge of Syria (using USAID money) and those terrorists immediately murdered an estimated 7,000 Alowhite Christians, just a few months ago. The murder of non-muslims in Syria by the Israel/Dem-installed government run by Al Qaeda is still happening as I write. How many Democrats even know that their beloved ‘Biden’ did this operation with Israel?

Pennsylvania Democrat Senator John Fettermen knew. He’s the fun and whacky Dem who would show up to work wearing sweats pants and hoodies; just another one of the guys!

And here is John kissing Netenyahu’s ring and ass last week in Israel. A silver pager was given to John by Netanyahu. Look how happy John is to receive the gift commemorating the horrific mass-murder of Muslims, the country-wide pager bombs that blew off a girl’s face. Look at his idiot googley-eyed wife smiling so wide…. And you can hear John say, WITH THAT BIG OLD MURDEROUS SMILE ON HIS FACE, “When that story broke, I was like, ‘oh I love it’”!”

Wha a sick.

Appeal to Demonstrators

Submitted By: schechtel.m@comcast.net – Click to email about this post
This is a general appeal to all organizers and participants of local public demonstrations.

Please consider the potential liability to others when choosing a specific location to demonstrate.

My sad story.
I rear-ended a vehicle at the flashing light in Nehalem last Saturday. I am 70-years-old and it is the first accident I have ever had. My car is two months old. The repair estimate is more than $4,000.

Some context.
I was headed south on Highway 101. I am very familiar with the flashing-light intersection in Nehalem and the right turn permitted without stopping. I was several car lengths behind the car in front of me that had indicated it was turning right. I took my eyes off the road for just a moment to see what the demonstration was about and did not realize the car in front of me had come to a dead stop.

Here’s the point I want to make.
If I hadn’t been distracted by the group of sign-waving demonstrators lined up on the on the sidewalk very close to the intersection, I have to believe this accident would not have happened. The driver of the other vehicle admitted that she and her passengers were also looking at the demonstrators and were like-wise distracted — hence the full stop.

Please consider the potential liability of holding a demonstration so close to a busy intersection such as the one in Nehalem.
Situating your group a bit further down the sidewalk away from the intersection would lessen the chance of driver distraction without affecting the impact of your demonstration.

Thank you for your consideration.

EYES TO THE SKY

A couple decades ago, when I was bartending in New Mexico, I met a Lakota guy from one of the small rezs In South Dakota. We struck up an acquaintance and over the next few weeks drank a bit in the bars around town. His mother had died the previous year, and there was a funeral ceremony for her that would be happening near his family’s home at Crow Creek. He had a headstone made for his mother in Albuquerque, and asked if I wanted to drive him and the headstone to the rez. I said yes. While we were driving across the rolling hills of SD under a full-moon sky, he informed me there was to be a peyote ceremony with one of the last medicine men and I was invited. After the ceremony – round after round of peyote in the teepee, tatanka grazing nearby, me the only white guy, everyone else family – when I was coming down off the peyote and feeling very emotional (long story there), the only comfort I could find was with a flock of chickadees flirting about high in the cottonwoods along a creek.

I like birds. A lot. I like birds more than just about every human I’ve met. I’ve rehabbed or brought to rehabbers lots of birds. I wrote a book about the life of a hawk in the Pacific Northwest. I wrote Headlight Herald editorials in support of the snowy plover program on the Nehalem Spit, the program that is mentioned in the Tillamook Country Pioneer on this site below. As a life-long birdwatcher, I am an outstanding hunter of ducks/geese/pigeons, and I LOVE eating them, even cooking down the bones. My point with all of this is that I LOOK UP AT THE SKY A LOT.

And I have grown quite sick of the Indigo pilots and the DOD’s geoengineering programs. In our part of the country, the planes fly out of Seattle. They spray over us and over Portland when conditions suit them. When they are working, look up and you will see the plumes being laid down by them and then expanding and drifting with the prevailing winds; generally drifting toward the Willamette Valley. When you see them spraying, check one of the FlightTracker apps and you will see that they originate in Seattle, fly around the coast and/or Portland, then return to Seattle.

These pilots are the highest paid of all pilots. The DOD chooses pilots that HAVE NO FAMILY and show themselves to be hardened or sociopathic. Our county commissioners should be investigating this, as well as The Johnson Near Space Center in Tillamook, headquartered at the Tillamook airport. They do high-altitude testing of various types. The county commissioners should be investigating their work.

Someone FINALLY put together a VERY SHORT piece about these pilots and the program. IF YOU LIVE HERE, PLEASE WATCH THIS:

And here is Nicole Shanahan on the DOD’s program. (Billionaire Nicole was married to Google-founder Sergei, they had an autistic kid – 1 in 32 kids here in Amerikkka now – was 1 in twenty-thousand 15 (?) years ago – and she concluded it was government-mandated vaccines that most-likely destroyed her sons life. That woke her up to all sort of government abuse, like the DOD’s geoengineering programs:

x.com/NicoleShanahan/status/1893772720162148546

And here is super-creep Obama’s CIA director and CNN contributor John Brennan discussing the chemtrail (SAI) program at a CFR event years ago:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ffjaigBpbYQ

And the DOD’s geoengineering programs now use satellites and electromagnetic weapons for weather control, this from LBJ in 1962:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=79voFUqcPq4

Oregon Democrats should be asking our Senators about the stuff being sprayed over our heads at these useless anti-Trump town halls, but they never will, because Democrats are entirely void of political self-introspection and rational political thought.

And, apparently, Democrats never look up.

enough already with the SS checks hoax

As some here have pointed out, this thing about SS checks is absurd. This “controversy” is a good example of a disinformation factory playing us all for fools.

Associated Press Headline from 2/19/2025:
New Social Security chief contradicts claims that millions of dead people are getting payouts
apnews.com/article/social-security-doge-musk-trump-improper-payments-57f9e374e77e7a24fdff3afa294aa7fe

Excerpts from the article linked above:

Lee Dudek, the new acting SSA commissioner who was placed in the role by President Donald Trump, gave the clarification after Trump and billionaire Elon Musk falsely claimed on social media and in news briefings that people who are 100, 200 and even 300 years old are improperly and routinely getting benefits.

So are tens of millions of people over 100 years old receiving benefits?
No.

Part of the confusion comes from Social Security’s software system based on the COBOL programming language, which has a lack of date type. This means that some entries with missing or incomplete birthdates will default to a reference point of more than 150 years ago. The news organization WIRED first reported on the use of COBOL programming language at the Social Security Administration.

Reports from the Social Security Administration’s inspector general in March 2023 and July 2024 state that the agency has not established a new system to properly annotate death information in its database, which included roughly 18.9 million Social Security numbers of people born in 1920 or earlier but were not marked as deceased. This does not mean, however, that these individuals were receiving benefits.

The agency decided not to update the database because the cost would run upward of $9 million.

A July 2023 Social Security OIG report states that “almost none of the numberholders discussed in the report currently receive SSA payments.” As of September 2015, the agency automatically stops payments to people who are older than 115 years old.

My experience with dead people cashing social security checks

Submitted By: barbaraandchuck@nehalemtel.net – Click to email about this post
dixiedarrow@icloud.com doesn’t give a year for this speech by Senator John Kennedy of Louisiana who she says said, “all the dead and extremely old people over 100 years of age that were cashing social security checks. These checks were being cashed! The reason he said, was that all death notices went to just one office in Washington DC, and this office did not share these notices with any other agencies that paid out money to individuals who were entitled by age, disablity, or any other reason.”
www.northcoastbbq.com/2025/03/20/popping-the-sadism-balloon/

But my experience in 2025 was not at all like the above. As many of you know, Chuck of bbq fame, passed away on Feb 14. (Thanks for all the love and support–it means a lot.)

He was getting social security and no checks were involved as it was an automatic deposit, which I assume is the norm these days. The staff at Caldwell Mortuary in Astoria took all the information for his death certificate and said that social security would be notified as a result of the filing of the death certificate. I didn’t even need to call them. And in fact he DID NOT receive any social security in March.

The system is working, at least as far as I have experienced, so I doubt there are dead people cashing social security checks. And if you are living and over 100 you certainly should still be getting your money from Social Security. After all it IS OUR money.

what they’re up to

Here are the first 3 paragraphs from a ProPublica article dated Oct. 28, 2024
[https://www.propublica.org/article/video-donald-trump-russ-vought-center-renewing-america-maga]
A key ally to former President Donald Trump detailed plans to deploy the military in response to domestic unrest, defund the Environmental Protection Agency and put career civil servants “in trauma” in a series of previously unreported speeches that provide a sweeping vision for a second Trump term.
In private speeches delivered in 2023 and 2024, Russell Vought, who served as Trump’s director of the Office of Management and Budget, described his work crafting legal justifications so that military leaders or government lawyers would not stop Trump’s executive actions.
He said the plans are a response to a “Marxist takeover” of the country; likened the moment to 1776 and 1860, when the country was at war or on the brink of it; and said the timing of Trump’s candidacy was a “gift of God.”
__________ 1. The interests behind this administration have a very negative view of socialist policies and use the label “Marxist” derogatively to gain support. Many, probably most, who voted for Trump benefit from US social programs. They will abruptly turn against him if these programs are taken away. Trump knows this.
2. These interests are the forces behind the blizzard of executive actions. Trump himself is incapable of crafting, or even conceiving of, the orders. He’s just “The Useful Idiot” (a 2021 book title) or, more generously, the performative talent delivering the script.
3. This article, a week prior to the election, accurately predicted the carnage we are now seeing with mass layoffs at government agencies. Current legal actions are showing promise and may save some agencies, we’ll see.
4. They will deploy military force to shut down protests, which are expected from liberals. They will take advantage of protests to promote their strength and further grow GOP voter support. One Republican representative at a town hall recently said they know they’re doing the right thing because liberals hate it.

One weakness of their plans lies in the goal: to take as much wealth as possible, even at the expense of average folks. At some point their supporters will experience so much economic pain as to override their fear of past social changes. Democrats must be ready to join forces, welcome them, and stop being so judgmental against those who just prefer a different lifestyle (iow, set a good example).
Meanwhile I continue to believe it’s important to expose the tactics elite interests use to control media and manipulate the public. If we understand this it will have less power. Be skeptical and compare sources.

Two Items about Trump’s Economy

Submitted By: genedieken@yahoo.com – Click to email about this post
ITEM ONE: It’s not just the Wall Street Journal calling Trump’s tariffs “the dumbest trade war in history.” Now UCLA’s Anderson Forecast has issued a recession watch, assuming Trump policies will be fully implement.
“Weaknesses are beginning to emerge in households’ spending patterns. And the financial sector, with elevated asset valuations and newly introduced areas of risk, is primed to amplify any downturn. What’s more, the recession could end up being stagflationary.”
“The exceptional degree of uncertainty surrounding these policies is in and of itself damaging to the economy. The ad-hoc and fitful tariff policy paralyzes firms’ investment and hiring decisions as they prefer to wait until there is more clarity surrounding future economic conditions. The threat of deportations paralyzes economic activity in immigrant communities as both workers and consumers choose to stay home in fear of capture. DOGE’s activities are creating a heightened level of job insecurity for most federal workers.”
www.anderson.ucla.edu/about/centers/ucla-anderson-forecast/recession-watch-2025
ITEM TWO: The USDA is expediting $10 billion in direct economic relief to agricultural producers to offset losses from tariffs. This is likely the first round of many more to come and is similar to what was done during Trump’s first term tariffs aimed at China, where closer to $20 billion was allocated. This money is on top of routine, ongoing federal ag support payments and applies to agricultural acreage in active production or in reserve. A cynic might call this a farm family suicide prevention program (as it was in 2017-20) but the truth is, most of the aid goes to the largest producers and corporations.
Here’s a list of the per acre support by crop: Wheat – $30.69 Corn – $42.91 Canola – $31.83 Sorghum – $42.52 Crambe – $19.08 Barley – $21.67. Flax – $20.97 Oats – $77.66 Mustard – $11.36 Upland cotton & extra-long staple cotton $84.74 Rapeseed -$23.63 Long & medium grain rice – $76.94 Safflower – $26.32 Peanuts – $75.51 Sesame – $16.83 Soybeans – $29.76 Sunflower – $27.23 Dry peas – $16.02 Lentils – $19.30 Small Chickpeas – $31.45 Large Chickpeas – $24.02
