The start of her natural dye journey using wild fungi began on a rainy September evening in Cordova, Alaska in 2010.

She sells hand-dyed goods on the coast and has taught mushroom dye workshops at several fungi festivals and for members of the Oregon Mycological Society since 2021.

Last Chance Riverside Concert with Mojo Holler

Submitted By: revolutionginger@gmail.com – Click to email about this post
Last chance to enjoy an outdoor Riverside Concert!

Mojo Holler
Saturday, September 7th from 6-8pm
North Fork 53 Communitea Wellness, off Hwy 53 in Nehalem

Get your tickets at the link below:
www.northfork53.com/events/p/mojo-holler-in-concert-saturday-september-7th-6-8pm

About the Band:

Mojo Holler weaves threads from mountain ranges to the Mississippi Delta into a tapestry of indie folk rock.

Musician Mister Baker channels innate genius through lap steel, slide, and dobro.

Missi is a genuine Appalachian ‘Mountain Mama’ whose vocals and percussion bring Southern heart and soul to each song.

Notable northwest musician and songwriter, Randy Yearout is on bass and acoustic guitars.

Willamette Week’s 2023 Best of Portland: “They sing about Mississippi boat queens, trains, juke joints, church bells—all things backwoods—with devotion and delicacy.”

The band formed in 2012 as the wife/husband duo Missi & Mister Baker. Their debut album, Where Black Ravens Flew, led to a showcase performance at South By Southwest in 2016.

The late Lisa Lepine, a Portland legend in music, said of their mission:

“They weave their dark, modern spirituals from shared roots in magic, Americana, and metaphysics.

Mister Baker, like Robert Johnson before him, may have made a deal with the devil — channeling an innate genius through lap steel, slide and dobro. Missi’s earthy voice brings burning intensity to each song.

Picture them sitting knee-to-knee on a Southern Delta, watching the dark moon rise and singing from their eternal souls.”

Don’t miss the last concert of the summer!

Lack of vision results in growing exodus of the Democratic party

Headlines have been covered with the high-profile decision of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to drop out of the presidential race and endorse Trump. A reminder, this move is after a long history of identifying as a Democrat and even throwing his name into be the Democratic nominee.
This endorsement was quickly followed by retired Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard, a former Democrat who rose to fame by scorching then-Senator Kamala Harris in a 2020 debate. These two were both pushed out of the Democratic party due to their criticism — showing that the party who boasts of “diversity” is working overtime to silence any opposing opinions to the party’s elite leadership.
If you take the time to listen to these two individuals, they are highly relatable to everyday Americans. They talk about the importance of health in a country where it is on the decline, they discuss the lack of honesty and transparency in our government, and growing concerns of world wars. They both eloquently and relatably talk about how the Democratic party has left residents behind.

Housing needed for the honey guy in 2025!

Submitted By: jwmerc@gmail.com – Click to email about this post
And the search has begun…
In spring of this coming year (2025) I will be losing my housing arrangement as the owner is retiring from his Federal Government job which obviously dispatches me to my next adventure. Ideally I will find something agreeable here on the coast – and I will entertain ideas either in Oregon or Washington. June 30th is my absolute “go” date – and can make the transition in April or May if the right fit presents itself. It doesn’t make sense in my budget to pay over $1500 for housing – unless there is square footage sufficient to allow extra storage.
Ideas/questions now – or for the future can be directed to me here on Facebook via IM, via text to my cell: 208-424-0042 – or via e-mail: jwmerc@gmail.com…jw

HONEY TASTING/PRESENTATION at the NCRD! (9/9)

Submitted By: jwmerc@gmail.com – Click to email about this post
It’s just one week away! Jeff (that’s me) Warren will be conducting a honey tasting & talk about so many things HONEY – with hopes of covering a lot of common questions asked at my weekly “pop-ups” – or curiosities that have been raised online.
SEATING IS LIMITED (capacity 30 – this can’t be changed) – held at the NCRD on MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 9th beginning at 7:15 sharp and ending at 8:30 pm with time for questions following – and if anyone would like to make a purchase once that’s ended. Raw honeys being tasted will include a classic Willamette Valley Wildflower, Meadowfoam, Pumpkin Blossom, Chamisa and a surprise raw honey at the end.
If interested you should contact Jeff ASAP with a name and the # of people coming. Any donations to help offset room/materials cost are welcome – but hey – let’s learn and have some fun while doing it! So you know this is NOT a beekeeping class – though the role/conduct of a beekeeper will certainly be touched up on (I am not one).
Jeffrey Warren – owner/operator – JW Merc – jwmerc@gmail.com, JW Merc on Facebook – and via text to my cell: 208-424-0042 – see you next week at the NCRD!!! JW

THE INDEPENDENT VOTER

Submitted By: dixiedarrow@icloud.com – Click to email about this post
Having been a Democrat most of my life, and now belonging to no party. I can see and think more clearly. I almost feel like I am observing both parties as if I were from another country and have no ties to either. Both of the main political parties in this country have attributes that I admire and both have attributes that I think are ridiculous.

In Oregon apparently independent voters outnumber voters from either party.

I left the Democratic Party in 2016 when the DNC “picked” who they wanted to run for president after the primary showed that Democratic citizens picked Bernie Sanders. The DNC picked Hilary Clinton to run instead. Thats when I left. I like to remind Democrats who have Trump Derangement Syndrome, that it was their party that put Trump in the white house.

YES Democrats -.your party put Trump in the White House! And ever since the DNC has ignored what their members want and the DNC continues to tell you who you are going to vote for. Like now!! Biden, who was going to run again dropped out and the DNC picked the vice president to run. You as a voter did not have a say in it.
How is it that Democrats don’t realize that their party is not Democratic?

The 1% – the billionaire class who own 99% of everything including 99% of the media, use the media to stir up hatred for Trump. That is because President Trump will not be a puppet for them. Biden and Harris are both puppets for those who reward them for opening the borders, causing massive inflation, putting “woke “ in the schools and turning parents who object into terrorists. Since both Biden and Harris “work” for these billionaires who are the ones actually running the country, It is really important for them to keep the people who do their bidding in office.
They make sure the media puts out tons of negative stuff about Trump to cause Trump Derangement Syndrome.
